Lance Allrunner - biography

    Lance Nakose Allrunner was born Nov. 30, 1968, in Clinton. His parents are Darrell and Carla (Tahmahkera) Wildcat and the late Clarence Allrunner. Lance was a proud member of the Cheyenne, Comanche, and Kiowa tribes. He was a descendant of Ten Bears, Chief Wildhorse, Quannah Parker and Chief Jacob Allrunner.

    Lance grew up and graduated from Anadarko High School in 1987 where he excelled in wrestling and football. In football Lance earned an Honorable Mention and was second runner up in the Oklahoma state wrestling tournament. After graduating high school Lance attended and graduated from Northeastern Oklahoma A & M Jr. College where he was Academic All-American. Following that, he attended the University of Oklahoma and was a student at M e t r o S t a t e College in D e n v e r, Colorado.

    He made his home in Denver, C o l o r a d o with his wife Dawn and son Phoenix Joeshia. He worked as a Family Case Worker I for the Denver Indian Family Resource Center. Lance assisted in developing and implementing youth programs with Denver Public Schools as well as advocating for native youth in the Juvenile Justice System and the Department of Human Services. He also worked with Native American Cancer Research as a Native Brother.

    Lance was very honored to have served as MC for the Denver March Powwow. He looked forward to doing this each year. He was also honored many times by being asked to serve as MC for pow-wows throughout the United States. He grew up in the dance arena where he danced traditional and straight. He traveled all over dancing and competing while singing at the drum as well.

    Since moving to Denver he has been a member of the Denver Singers as well as the Colorado Intertribal southern drum. He has been called upon to serve as Headman Dancer, MC and Arena Director at various powwows throughout Indian Country.

    He belongs to the tsi tsistah ho dah ni dah mi o’h (Cheyenne Dog Soldier Society), Bald Eagle Society, and has also danced with the Nu mu nu Thu wee (Comanche Black Knife) dancers.
